III/ Soak, incubation and sowing:

a. Prepare warm water 50 – 52oC:

- By mixing 40% boiling water (95 – 100oC) with 60% fresh water (25 – 30oC) got from drilled well or water faucet.

- Soak the seeds in warm water as prepared in 2 hours.

b. Incubation the seed:

- Clean the towels or T – shirts (or damp tissues), squeeze water out of them to maintain adequate moisture (about 80 – 85%).

- Spread the seeds as soaked on the towels, then put these towels in dark, warm place (around  28 – 30oC).

- After 24 hours, please clean the viscosity on the skin seed got from drilled well or water faucet and washing of hot towels (1000C), squeeze water out of them to maintain adequate moisture then incubated seed.

c. Sowing:

- After 36 – 40 hours, the seeds will germinate, please sow these seeds in the nursery or direct on the field.

- Clean the seed not germinate and washing of towels, after 12 hours, the seeds will germinate, continue to sowing.

IV/ Planting and maintenance:

1. Fertilizers (for 1.000 m2):

Fertilizer depends on geographic conditions. However, we recommend applying the following guides:

* Quantity:

Muck:              3 m3

Super phosphates:    30 kg

Urea:         15 kg

Lime:               50 kg

NPK 16-16-8:            40 kg

DAP:          16 kg

KCl:                 16 kg

* Application:

Times

Stages

Quantity

Basal

At tillage

3 m3 mucks + 50 kg limes + 30 kg Super phosphate + 3 kg Urea + 10 kg NPK + 10 kg KCl

Side dressing at

  7 day after sowing

Mix 1 kg DAP + 400 liter water, about 0,1 liter/plant

18, 28 and 38 day after sowing

1 kg Urea + 4 kg NPK + 2 kg DAP

42, 52 and 58 day after sowing

2 kg Urea + 4 kg NPK + 3 kg DAP

66, 76 and 84 day after sowing

 1 kg Urea + 2 kg NPK + 2 kg KCl

* Notes:

    • Lime should be applied at soil preparation to increase fertilizer effect
    • Fertilizer should be applied far enough from the plant foot, deep enough (6 – 7 cm) to increase fertilizer effect.
    • Fertilizing should be together with weeding increase fertilizer effect
    • In the dry season, to add some micronutrients fertilizer: MgSO4 (2 kg), MnSO4 (4 kg), Borax (1.5 kg)/1.000m2 basal in soil or used Magnisal, Botrac…spray to the leaves.

2. Pruning (branch): Prune lower branches axillary entire 6th.

3. Training vine (branch):

- When the plants have branches, should guide them upwards to the trellis like herringbone shape to save space and to facilitate the plants protection, as well as set more fruit.

V/ Plant protection:

* Viral disease:

- Regularly visit the field during 15 – 30 days after planting to remove and bury the infected plants. Spray the lower side of the leaves to prevent the suck group(beetles, aphids…) with the following chemicals: Dinotefuran (min 89%), Clorfenapyr (min 94%), Diafenthiuron,…

* Gummy Stem blight:

- The disease occurs rainy period, on poorly drained field and pinned.

- Should rotating spray chemicals: :  Iprodione (min 96%), Metalaxyl + Mancozeb, Thioptranate – methyl 70%,… spray to the plant foot, the stem and combined fertilizing balance.

* Anthracnose:

- The disease is harmful in the rainy season, should rotating spray chemicals: Propinep (min 80%),Chlorothalonil (min 98%), Mancozeb 64% + Metalaxyl 8%.…

* Powdery mildew:

- Disease emergence favored by high relative humidity and temperature about 22 – 27 oC, harmful in high land have more frost.

- Should rotating spray chemicals: Imipemconazole (min 98,3%), Chlorothelonil (min 98%), Mancozeb (min 98%), Ethabosan (min 99,6%), Coper Oxychloride 50% + Metalaxyl 8%,… spray the lower side and top of the leaves (old and young leaves).

* Borer group:

- Is harmful in vegetative period.

- Spray the lower side of the leaves in late afternoon with the following chemicals: Prevathon, Ammate, Silsau super, Bom, Pob, Secure, Takumi Cascade.…

* Suck group:

- Spray the lower side of the leaves and on top of the plant with the following chemicals: Chlorpyrifos Methyl (min 96%), Dinotefuran (min 89%), Clothianidin,…

* Leafminer:

- Very harmful in the dry season, when the weather is dry Rotating spray chemicals:Cyromazine (min 95%), Imidacloprid, Alphacypermethrin,…

* Fruit fly:

- Should rotating spray chemicals: Methyl eugenol 75% + Dibrom 25%, Cypermethrin + Profenofos,

** Notes:

  • Should carefully sprayed at the lower side of the leaves.
  • Fungicide should be sprayed at old leaves.
  • Pesticide should be sprayed at young leaves./
