PLANTING GUIDE HYBRID WAX GOURD F1 – JAVA 69

                              (GOLDEN COIN SEEDS)

IFeatures:

 - Strong plant.

 - Harvesting: 58 - 60 days after sowing.

 - Fruit size: 22 - 25 cm length, 5.9 - 6.1 cm diameter.

 - Fruit characteristics: green skin with white spots, light green flesh.

 - Yield: 7 - 8 kg/plant.

III/ Sowing and planting:

Sowing seeds direct to the pots and put them in the nursery. These pots have environment including: 2 parts of muck + 1 part of soil. After sowing seeds get filled environment and sufficient moisture for irrigation.

After 5 – 7 days, seeds germinated (if it’s cold, should if cover the area sowing by white nylon to keep their warm), after 16 – 20 days (seedling have 2 leaves), can be planted in field.

IV/ Planting and maintenance:

1. Fertilizers (for 1.000 m2):

Fertilizer application for cultivation depends on geographic conditions, however, we recommend applying the following guides are applied very effectively to many growing areas for you refer and apply:

* Quantity:

Muck:             3 m3

Super phosphate:    40 kg

Urea :  21 kg

Lime:            50 kg

NPK 16-16-8:          45 kg

DAP:     9 kg

KCl:              20 kg

* Notes:

  • Should be applied lime at tillage to increase fertilizer efficiency.
  • Should be applied fertilizer far enough from the plant foot, deep enough (6 – 7 cm) to increase fertilizer efficiency.
  • Should be weeding combined with fertilizing times to increase fertilizer efficiency.
  • Should be fertilizing timely and properly follow recommended.

2. Cut the tops: To abundant harvest, should be cut these tops when there are 6 leaves on the seedling.

3. Pruning branches: to set more valid branches, should pruning 1 – 2 lowest lateral branches.

4. Vine Training: when the plants have branches, should guide them upwards to the trellis like herringbone shape to save space and to facilitate the plants protection, as well as set more fruit.

V. Plant protection:

* Viral disease:

Diseases transmitted by sucking insects such as thrips, hoppers, aphids,... very harmful in the dry season.

Preventing and treating: regularly visit the field during 15 – 30 days after planting to remove and bury the infected plants, spray the lower side of the leaves with the following chemicals: Dinotefuran (min 89%), Clorfenapyr (min 94%), Diafenthiuron,…

* Gummy stem blight:

The disease occurs rainy period, on poorly drained field and pinned.

Preventing and treating by rotating spray with the following chemicals: Iprodione (min 96%),Mancozeb 64%, Metalaxyl 8%, spray to the plant foot, the stem and combined fertilizing balance

* Borer group:

Is harmful in vegetative period.

Preventing and treating by rotating spray the lower side of the leaves in late afternoon with the following chemicals: Emamectin Benzoate (Avermectin B1a 90% + Avermectin B1b 10%), Lufenuron (min 96%), Flubendiamize (min 95%), Chlorantraniliprol,….

* Suck group:

Thrips, hoppers, aphids,... suck resin and transmitting Viral disease.

Preventing and treating by rotating spray with the following chemicals to the lower side of the leaves and on top of the plants: Chlorpyrifos Methyl (min 96%), Dynotefuran (min 89%), Clothianidin,….

* Leafminer:

Very harmful in the dry season, when the weather is dry.

Preventing and treating by rotating spray with the following chemicals: Methyl eugenol 75% + Dibrom 25%, Cyromazine (min 95%),

* Notes:

  • Fungicide should be sprayed at old leaves, pesticide should be sprayed at young leaves.
  • Pesticide should carefully sprayed at the lower side of the leaves./
